Abstract

Administrative bottlenecks and indirect control of studio bookings often undermine students’ practical training in higher education. This study proposes an online studio booking management system designed to improve accessibility, transparency, and utilization of institutional studio resources. The system was developed using an agile methodology, with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for the front-end and PHP/MySQL for the back-end. Beyond system design, a pilot evaluation was conducted with 20 Mass Communication students and 5 academic staff, 3 studio technologists and an administrative officer. Results indicated a 75% reduction in booking conflicts, a 25% improvement in resource utilization, and high usability ratings on the System Usability Scale (SUS = 82.5/100). These findings demonstrate that integrating user-friendly booking platforms with administrative monitoring tools can significantly enhance both learning outcomes and resource management. The study contributes to literature on digital educational tools by providing empirical evidence of the efficiency and usability of online booking systems in resource-constrained academic environments.
